A little old, but still fun.

Dungeons & Dragons Interview

18 10 2009

I came across an interesting interview with Fernando Paiz, the Exective Producer of Dungeons & Dragons Online, over at Ars Technica and figured it was worth sharing with you. The writer, Ben Kuchera, does a great job in drawing out good answers and providing interesting insight.

Price Pressures

16 10 2009

Yet another interesting editorial piece from Rob Fahey at GamesIndustry.biz about price perceptions and realities in the games market. He makes some very interesting points about rising development costs and consumer views on a suitable price. And yes, he does talk about Modern Warfare 2.

Gameswipe

3 10 2009

If you’re a fan of games and Charlie Brooker then you might be interested in watching Gameswipe on BBC iPlayer. Although the focus of the program is a little foggy, often a degree of gaming knowledge is sometimes required while at other times it seems to be pitched more for those new to gaming. Still, any program written by Mr Brooker is worth a watch.

This program is part of a season of technology themed series on BBC Four and there some shows that look worth catching. Particularly the drama Micro Men, which retells the story of the rivalry between the BBC Micro and Sinclair Spectrum.

Having a tea break? Me too, I’m meant to be working on exciting video stuff, but I’m surfing on the net instead, so in order to be slightly productive I’m sharing this with you.

What would I do with a personalised killstreak in Modern Warfare 2? Well….

continue? Video Channel Open

6 09 2009

Rejoice dear reader as I have finally gotten round to setting up a You Tube channel were you can view some older videos from the archive and engage in flame wars with trolls. There aren’t many videos on there at the moment, but I hope to rectify this over the coming weeks.

You will also notice the sidebar has changed to incorporate a link to it as well. Yay!

League Of Legends

3 09 2009

Its always nice when I find a free to play game that isn’t a Korean MMORPG and so League Of Legends (LOL) from the creators of DotA is welcome discovery. DotA, or Defence of the Ancients, was a multi-player mod for Warcraft 3 where instead of controlling many characters you just had one hero and the objective was to destroy the opposing team’s tower.

League of Legends is a natural extension of DotA formula in a stand alone game. The game is currently in closed beta, but you can still join in and through the developer’s Facebook group. However, the process is a little long winded, but well worth a try or You can simply pre-order the game now and access the beta that way.

I love me a good rune

If you are a fan of the popular free to play MMO RuneScape then you will be interested to know that Eurogamer have just put up an interview with Jagex CEO Mark Gerhard and designer Henrique Olifiers about the company’s success and their new game MechScape. There are also a couple of other related features on the Eurogamer site as well.

Adventure Quest Worlds

25 08 2009

Despite this needlessly over-dramatic trailer I would recommend having a little go on Adventure Quest Worlds, a flash based MMORPG, from Artix Entertainment. I’ve certainly wasted a few hours with it and have found the experience surprisingly addictive. Plus, the starting area is called Noobshire (chortle chortle).
