Eurogamer Expo 2009 Quick Look

A quick look at this year’s Eurogamer Expo in London. More than 40 games over 4 floors, along a games careers fair and developer sessions. Highly recommended.

Torchlight Demo

New on Steam and well worth a try is the Torchlight demo from Runic Games. Torchlight is a great action RPG and will definately appeal to anyone who likes punishing their left mouse button. I hope to get around to reviewing the full game some time in the future, but until then get playing.

Champions Online Free This Weekend

Do you have a superhero hero fantasy itch you want to scratch? Well, then you’re in luck as Cryptic Studios superhero MMO Champions Online is free this weekend in celebration of the Blood Moon content patch that goes live today for subscribers. The World Will End (for Dungeon Runners)

NCSoft’s free to play RPG Dungeon Runners will shutting down on new year’s day as the publisher isn’t making any money off of it. A letter posted on the game’s website Stephen Nichols (Producer and Lead Programmer) explains the reasoning behind the closure and is far too long to repost here.

Dungeons and Dragons Online Free From Today

Dungeons and Dragons Online is free to play from today after the subscrition model developer Turbine was using hasn’t performed as they had hoped. They had a bit of a moan about it with their original publisher Atari.

I’ve only had a little go so far and initial impressions are good, plus it has some nice DX10 graphics. It looks quite similar to Turbine’s other MMO Lord of the Rings Online though. Still, it is one of the nicest looking free to play MMORPGs out there so I won’t complain too much. More soon.

Yo ho ho me hearties, do yer be liking pirates? Or more accurately games about pirates? Like Pirates of the Caribbean Online? Aaaarrrh! Or maybes Bounty Bay Online? Aaaaarrh! Yes?

Well you is in luck you chicken livered landlubber as Frogster Online be releasing a new expansion for their pirate MMO Bounty Bay Online called Beyond the Horizon. It be due out soon and allows ye to sail to new towns in the Americas! Aaaaaarh. If yer don’t know what Bounty Bay Online be then just think of Sid Meier’s Pirates, but with more pirates and shiny graphics like a piece of stolen Spanish gold.

Dawn Of War 2 Free DLC In October

Those lovely people at Relic have announced they are to release a new ‘horde’ style game mode called Last Stand for their fantastic RTS Dawn of War 2. Horde modes have become the in thing at the moment and while this is not a particularly original idea free DLC for an excellent title such as this is more than welcome. I’m sure Relic will have a few interesting twists on the formula, but we’ll have to wait until its release sometime in October to find out what those might be.

The End Of The World (Of Warcraft)

Blizzard must love people like me (and god knows there must be thousands of us on the internet) as the recent announcement of the new World of Warcraft expansion has again made me all a quiver for the world’s ultimate kill x number of creature y game. Rather than parrot out all the info here, you should check the mini site for the expansion from the link at the bottom of this post.

Having quit WoW, as I am now a father and need to spend my free time doing fatherly things, this presents a problem as this makes me want to start up my account again. I just thank my lucky stars its not out until next year.
